#FIND_RAMADAN is a social media initiative commissioned by Alia Youssef and FIND’s two summer research contributors, Hasan Nabulsi and Shakhbut Saeed Al Kaabi. The month of Ramadan is celebrated with many sacred moments and iconic objects, all of which happen only once during the year, and cannot be retrieved afterwards, until the month recommences once again. #FIND_Ramadan aims to preserve this time in the form of visual media, using Instagram as the serving platform for users to engage with FIND and contribute with their own content.
Images and videos curated by FIND’s summer research contributors will be posted daily on
FIND’s Instagram page. In addition to that, users will be able to participate by including #FIND_Ramadan in their posts, and FIND will choose the best content to repost. At the end of the month the best 10-15 pieces of reposted content will be featured in a digital exhibition curated by the New York University Abu Dhabi in September.
A hidden story goes along with each enchanting moment and iconic object of Ramadan and each underlie a message that is exclusive to this holy month. Through this project FIND will become a platform to collect all content that express the beauty of the holy days. #FIND_Ramadan is a project that values the artistic beauty in preserving each day of Ramadan through visual media. Whether it’s with an iPhone or a professional Nikon, capturing the moment is what #FIND_Ramadan seeks to be part of, whenever and wherever it may be.
